What is Freelance Work?

Freelance How to Work From Home Today

You’ve probably heard of freelancing before, but you might still be asking the question of, “what is freelance work?” Indeed, understanding what freelance work entails isn’t quite as simple as just a single answer. In fact, freelance work can vary from person to person. So, the exact definition of what freelancing is will depend on who you ask! However, we have done our best to find a definition of freelancing that meets most people’s experience with this unique earning opportunity.

Have You Ever Wondered, What is Freelance Work?

If we look at Wikipedia’s definition of, “what is freelance work?” they define freelancing as follows:

Freelancer: a person who is self-employed and not necessarily committed to a particular employer long-term.

This is a very vague definition, and we think that freelancing needs a slightly more specific definition and explanation. After all, it’s more than just being self-employed! However, freelancing can offer an excellent way to work from home and be your own boss. Indeed, if you find a niche of freelancing that meets your passions, work goals, and facilities, you can easily find yourself with thousands more in your wallet at the end of the month!

This idea behind freelancing, we believe, is better summarized by FlexJobs, who define freelancing as:

A freelance job is one where a person works for themselves, rather than for a company … Freelancers are responsible for all sorts of things that traditional employees are not … setting their work hours, keeping track of time spent on different projects, billing clients, and paying their own employment and business taxes.

This is a much better definition of freelancing. It gives a lot more detail about what it means to be a freelance worker. Don’t panic though – it might seem like a lot of work to find and negotiate with clients, but freelancing can offer many benefits over a normal office job. Modern freelancing is further made easier thanks to online freelancing platforms.

How We Define Freelancing

So, what do we think about what freelancing is? Well, for us, freelancing is a job role that allows self-employed individuals to work from home – or wherever best suits them. Freelancers use their unique creative skills and passions to provide content and services for clients. These skills most commonly include writing, graphic design, photography, and web design. However, there are many different niches for freelancers to fill.

Freelancers have no boss – they have clients. This gives them the freedom to choose their own clients whom they get on with well. Furthermore, freelance workers also get to pick and choose the work that they do, with the ability to turn down work if it’s not something they enjoy doing or if it’s something they find hard. As such, freelancers have more control over their work than a normal office worker.

If you’ve got experience in the field of software engineering, this is a great idea! You could work on designing a web page while renting a house on the beach even

The article is very good. But my feat of becoming a freelancer still persists 😉
